These Academy positions are highly sought after and are reviewed throughout lower school to ensure these students achieve their personal best, are challenged with rigour and relevance.
All classes in Lower School, whether Academy or not, privilege the General Capabilities which are the seven requirements for success in our fast paced 21st Century world – Literacy, Numeracy, Critical and Creative thinking, Ethical Understanding, ICT Capability, Personal and Social Capability and Intercultural Understanding. Building positive relationships is central to ensuring success – relationships between our students, teachers and parents/guardians.
In Year 8 some students are successful in gaining entrance into our Big Picture Academy which offers a unique opportunity to flex learning around interests and passions. Limited places are available.
Greater choices within options are available in Years 9 and 10 as students begin to pursue their areas of interest. From Years 10 – 12, the students’ focus narrows as they start to select more strategically for their chosen pathways. Our college offers expertise, guidance and ongoing counselling and case conferencing to ensure pathways are tailored to meet each student’s needs.
